Interview with Amy Romano, Childbirth Connection

Today we talk with Amy Romano, Associate Director of Programs at Childbirth Connection, who is sponsoring of one of the most recent additions to the Health 2.0 Online Developer Challenge, the Maternity Data Visualization Challenge. Childbirth Connection is asking developers to create interesting and informative visualizations around maternity care data using high priority data sets.

Submitted visualizations should demonstrate multiple factors in maternity care including geographic variation in access, procedures use, outcomes, and/or costs in maternity care. In addition to visual interest, entries should engage stakeholders, encouraging action in the maternity care community.

Winners of this challenge will be awarded $2,500 plus a meet and greet with JD Klienke at the Health 2.0 Spring Fling Conference in San Diego.

In the interview below, Amy talks about what she hopes to see come from this challenge and why it is so important to bringing technology apps and visualizations to the world of maternity care.
