NIKE, Inc. will begin its first accelerator program, sponsored by TechStars, in March 2013. Nike+ Accelerator, based in Portland, Ore., will accept 10 companies for a three-month long program.
Social networking company Alliance Health Networks partnered with meQuilibrium to offer stress support during the holidays. MeQuilibrium is an online program that provides personalized guidance for people trying to manage their stress. From now until the end of the year, Alliance members will be able to use the program for free.
DoctorBase now has 8,000 health care providers on its platform. DoctorBase lets physicians securely email and picture message their patients through an iOS app.
Communications technology company Ericsson and AT&T plan to offer cloud-based SaaS for remote patient monitoring. The monitoring system will include the ability to hold video calls with providers using a wireless tablet. It’s expected to be available in 2013.
HealthPocket recently debuted an online site that allows consumers to compare the available health insurance plans in their geographic region. HealthPocket.com filters plans by cost of premiums, cost of drugs covered and by the quality of the plan. The site is free to users, and insurance companies do not pay to showcase.
Zensorium released Tinké, a device for measuring cardiorespiratory health and stress levels. Tinké looks at the trends of both measures side by side throughout the day and transfers the information to an iOS device.
HIT company Diversinet launched its mobiHealth Wallet, a personal health information manager. Patients can use the wallet to download, enter and share their health data, and the wallet is compatible with the U.S. federal government’s Blue Button Initiative.
