WorldOne, a health care data collection company, raised $35M in funding from Deerfield Management Company. The capital will be channeled towards expanding Sermo, a social networking platform for physicians, which WorldOne acquired last year.

Compumatrice, a software services company, officially launched its clinical care and management product, CareLink 360. It is a set of three HIPPA compliant mobile applications used for accurate and secure communication of clinical information, and has successfully piloted in several hospitals.

Zinc Software, an Ireland based sensor maker, raised €650K from Kernel Capital, AIB Seed Capital Fund and Enterprise Ireland. The funds will be used to promote its wireless heart rate monitor, Zen, that clips to the ear and transmits data to a mobile device.

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) launched the State Meaningful Use Acceleration Challenge 2.0. The challenge aims at a 50% EHR adoption rate nationwide and an 80% success rate for hospitals vying for meaningful use incentive payments by the end of 2013.

Office Fitness (Health at Work), a new iOS app promoting fitness in the workplace, debuted recently. Created by a team of osteopaths, physical therapists and yoga teachers, the app features simple exercises that can be easily performed in a small space.

American Well announced a telehealth pilot program at Massachusetts General Hospital. The six-month pilot will offer telehealth visits in three clinical areas: child and adolescent psychiatry, heart failure and neurology. American Well launched at the Health 2.0 Annual Conference 2008.

The Mount Sinai Medical Center announced a pilot program of a new data management and analysis platform called CLIPMERGE, which stands for Clinical Implementation of Personalized Medicine through Electronic Health Records. The platform was developed at Mount Sinai and gives doctors real-time therapeutic and diagnostic guidance based on their patient’s genetic profile.

Practice Fusion launched Patient Fusion, which allows patients to search for doctors by specialty and zip code, and book appointments online. The offering is similar to the appointment booking service offered by ZocDoc.

Axial Exchange debuted the Patient Engagement Index (PEI), a ranking of US hospitals based on patient engagement. “Personal health resources” accounts for 50% of the score and refers to materials provided to patients by hospitals including Internet access to health information, mobile applications, or interactive tools for managing health. Axial Exchange launched at the Health 2.0 Annual Conference 2011.

Calgary Scientific Inc. received clearance from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market its medical imaging application, ResolutionMD Mobile, as a mobile diagnostic application on Android devices. The app, which allows physicians to remotely access patient images and make a diagnosis using their mobile devices, is the first of its kind to receive approval for Android devices.
