Azumio is pushing out a new Sleep Time app for smartphones. The app uses motion detection during sleep to analyze sleep patterns and provide feedback. The service will sync with Azumio’s mobile health platform of biotracking apps.

West County Health Centers has implemented WellFX social patient platform. The cloud-based service will provide patients an online community of care, as well as adding functionality to allow physicians to post educational content.

Mylan, a generic drug manufacturer, launched an iOS app that provides a digital version of their Generic Brand Reference Guide. Beyond reference, the app will add clinical support tools to physicians.

While the patent wars are raging between Apple and Samsung, they may just be getting started in healthcare. AirStrip was approved for a broad patent for “applications that deliver patient physiologic monitoring data to smartphones, tablets and other devices.”

A project between Preventice and the Mayo Clinic received FDA clearance this week. The BodyGuardian System is a remote monitoring tool that allows providers to track non-lethal cardiac arrhythmias for ambulatory patients once they leave the doctor’s office. The clearance will allow Preventice to market the system more widely.
