Announcing the Newest Health 2.0 Developer Challenge with Childbirth Connection

Health 2.0 and Childbirth Connection are extremely excited to announce the newest addition to the Health 2.0 Developer Challenge, the Exposing Variation in Maternity Care Quality, Health Outcomes, and Value: A Data Visualization Challenge.

There is a lot of data out there about maternity care, and Childbirth Connection believes that there is a great application waiting to surface. For this challenge, teams of developers and designers are asked to create a data visualization tool that demonstrates geographic variation in access, procedure use, outcomes and/or costs in maternity care. The idea is that visualizing the relevant data will make the information engaging for policy makers, the media and other stakeholders to galvanize state and regional action for quality improvement.

Submissions are due March 4th, 2011 and will be judged on the application’s ability to convey data in an accurate and creative manner, design, user experience and use of high priority data sets. Winners will receive a $2,500 cash prize, plus a meet and greet with health care information technology pioneer, JD Klienke at the Health 2.0 Spring Fling Conference in San Diego.

We look forward to seeing all of the creative submissions!
