Developer Challenge Update

The Developer Challenge program is currently running twelve challenges (also known as innovation competitions) that currently have close to $700,000 in available prize money.  Four of these Challenges recently closed and have entered the “judging phase,” where each project submitted will be reviewed by a panel of industry leaders. While not every team will win a cash prize, this part of the Challenge process offers a fantastic way for developers to get exposure to influential organizations. Open challenges that you can still register for include:

  • The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Aligning Forces Challenge
  • AETNA Foundation Challenge
  • Healthy People 2020 Leading Health Indicators App Challenge
  • popHealth Tool Development Challenge
  • One in a Million Hearts and Reporting Device Adverse Events Challenge
  • Reporting Device Adverse Events Challenge

On the private sector side, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Aligning Forces Challenge is one of the Developer Challenge Program’s most promising competitions  to date.  The objectives are ambitious and the challenge is accruing entries at record pace. The sponsor is calling on developers to create solutions that help patients access better care using publicly available inpatient and outpatient data from the Aligning Forces Program. With  37 entries and over four weeks until close, we’re also expecting some steep competition.  The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2011.  To find out more and sign-up please visit the challenge page here.

Our other private sector challenge is the AETNA Foundation Challenge which is helping developers fight our nation’s obesity epidemic.  The Challenge is only open for two more weeks and will close on December 15, 2011. To find out more and sign-up please visit the AETNA Challenge page here.

Check back next week for a run-down of our Public Sector Challenges and be sure to visit our Developer Challenge page to see what competitions best fit your interests. The Developer Challenge is also set to launch three more online competitions mid-December so stay tuned!
