Interview with Hemi Weingarten, Founder of Fooducate

Anyone who has ever read the nutrition label of a “granola bar” only to discover that it contains in approximately 27, unpronounceable ingredients can relate to the story behind Fooducate. After having three kids and a run-in with glow-in-the-dark yogurt, founder Hemi Weingarten thought maybe it was time to start taking closer look at nutrition labels, and was shocked by what he found.

Inspired by his findings, he has since launched Fooducate, a mobile nutrition app that helps users make sense of all the dizzying information on nutrition labels. Consumers lead busy lives and the Fooducate app makes quick work of analyzing labels with a barcode scanner and gives each product a grade, and highlights the good and questionable ingredients.
